For friends who are catching up and will be coming from different places, meeting in the middle is the best option and that is Alabang Town Center for the four of us. Since we haven’t seen each other for the longest time, a heartfelt conversation and a ‘tummy-ful’ of food are a must.

Chasing Dreams: Rikki’s Quick Guide to a Less-than-24Hours Escapade

I pictured myself ‘on the sand,by the shore, being submissive to the waves’ one morning.

  

And then that night, I got an invite from a friend for a surfing session in La Union. It was so tempting, I tell you. But then I thought of work and as hard as it was, I had to pass on that one.

The next morning, I focused on work as usual, gave all my time for it, but I feel like I’m losing track – one wrong move after the other while I’m trying to fix everything – uh-oh, something’s so wrong, I can sense it.

So before I totally lose everything, I packed my ‘work’, and finally decided that my longtime dream of beach-bumming alone has come to its perfect timing.

I wiped my tears, searched for my favorite traveling shorts (my own version of the traveling pants), slipped on my black beachwalk given to me with love (my loyal escapade companion) and off I go to chasing my ‘dream in life’ and to leaving another mark of my beachwalk trail.

   

So here, let me take you to a Quick Guide to this escapade:

  • Bus from Crossing to Buendia – P21.00 
  • Power-baon pack – (This one is subjective, of course. I decided to just buy a power-packed baon that will last for the whole duration of my stay to avoid spending much on food and I did it strategically: frosty and fries on my way to the pier (dinner), salad for breakfast, bacon mushroom melt baconator for lunch)
  • Bus from Buendia to Batangas Pier – P166.50 *less than 2 hours travel time (Prior to this, I already prepared my beach-bumming playlist: Moony, Kaskade and The Beach, purfet :o)
  • Ferry from Pier to Sabang Beach (Ferries are only until 5pm so if you arrived there past that time, there are special trips available but expect a triple rate than the ordinary fare. Expect also a tour around almost the whole of Batangas city because from pier, special trips have a different start-off point and end-point. You’ll love it, though, especially when you pass by the Malampaya area and see all its lights on, it’s so surreal you’ll feel like you’re in a different place. There are direct routes from Pier to White Beach though if you made it to the last available trip)
  • Tricycle from Sabang Beach to White Beach – P100.00 (Since these are more than 30 minutes apart from each other, they charge P300. To not pay this much, be friendly with the people on the same ferry as yours because some of them are most probably going to the White Beach as well. So instead of paying it full, it’ll be divided among you.)
  • Hotel Accommodation – P800.00 plus P200.00 deposit (This I just found out as one of the perks of traveling alone – people are so generous to give you discounts! At first, they won’t believe you’re alone but when they realized that you really are ALONE, they become extra nice and become so protective of you.   • Gimick Puerto Galera Style(When I go somewhere, I make sure I don’t miss the best cocktails the place has to offer. And when you’re in Puerto, you should not miss Mindoro Sling –  refreshingly fruity 😮 ! Of course I want to try something new aside from that so I just let the barista of Mikko’s Bar offer me one of their bestsellers – Lumumba and shoot, it’s deceivingly chocolatey. Being friendly is always always a must so when people, esp. the manager of that bar, asked for your name and the other bakasyonistas there asked you to dance and join them, enjoy it – just don’t give number and don’t stay too long with them) 
     
  • Full Body Massage – P200.00 (Best on the shore and best with one bottle of Tanduay Ice *wink – P70.00. Befriend manang masahista, she’ll also offer you discounts for her handmade bracelets/trinkets. Again, contact me if you want to have Manang Jorie’s massage service 😮 )
     
  • Bull Ride – P50.00 (This is sooo fun you should not dare miss it at Rodeo Bull Bar Entertainment and Restaurant. You can choose from mild to wild and they won’t stop until you fall. Trick – a good and firm grip and body movement that looks like you’re swaying and swagging like a bull. Be careful, though, scratches and bruises will come in handy no matter how mild that ride is) 
       
  • Ferry from White Beach to Pier – P250.00 plus P10.00 fee * 1 hour travel time
  • Bus from Pier to Crossing – P166.50
  • Souvenirs – P100.oo up
  

Whew! I made one of my dreams come true in less than 24hours. See, things can always be done 🙂 But of course, you always, always have to pray – for your safety, for the loved ones you left behind and for the peace of heart and serenity of mind that you’re wishing to find.

Signs that the Starbucks Planner Season Is On!

Aside from Christmas and all the good things that come with it, there is this craze I look forward to every year when the Ber months are already here – the Starbucks Planner Season! It’s just so hard to miss this one.

What are the signs that this craze is on?

1. Business Meetings, Meet-Ups and Friends’ Hangouts have one one thing in common – a visit at any Starbucks coffee shop. Really, the number of customers who go to Starbucks stores double and Starbucks is always the top of mind coffee shop whenever there’s a get-together these days.

2. There is always this friendly agreement before placing an order – who gets to own the sticker. Since everyone wants it and almost everyone needs THAT sticker, trust me, you’ll always hear this while you’re lining up to have your cup.

3. Coffee preferences change – Even if you’re a coffee lover of a certain kind, you’ll find yourself buying either of these two seasonal favorites: Toffee Nut and of course my very own addiction (Hot Venti) Peppermint Mocha.

Starbucks and Starbucks planner are love! And they made this even lovelier this year with these words written on the cup: WHEN WE’RE TOGETHER I KNOW I’LL NEVER FALL. (Awww … my heart melts with this one).

I can’t wait to have my 2012 planner! Starbucks, anyone? 🙂 Oh, I just have one wish, though: Spell my name right , next time, yo! 🙂 Haha. Tsss 🙂

Kain Ahente: Welcome to the SalesMAN’s World, Rikki

When I was still in Sales Operations, PG Attack is what me and my colleagues used to call our food and venue escapades. We love the oculars almost all the hotels in town offer us. Ocular for us is equivalent to buffet lunch or buffet dinner – and who are we to reject that?

Argh … buffet is love! And buffet is one of our weaknesses.

And because we so love each other, when Lola Erwin or I get an invite from Picasso or Manila Hotel or Diamond Hotel or Hyatt or Traders or Shang or New World or whatever hotel that is so generous to invite us for that, it is always a package deal – three of us minimum.

Lola Erwin and I are the staples because he handles big events and I handle small events, trainings, meetings and workshops and then it’s either Beb Mike or Crea or Faith from Trade Marketing we tug along with us and we gained friends especially hotel sales executives because we are so honest about that *wink.

Now that I’m in Field Sales, PG Attack is no longer applicable.

One. The five of us is no longer connected with one company and it’s only fun doing that in group. Two. We barely see each other 😦 and that kind of attack needs a lot of planning *choz, a lot of alignment of our busy schedules. Three. With the new line of work that I’m into, PG attack has evolved to kain-construction-worker. And this is the kain-ahente I am now getting used to.

I ended up eating 2 cups of their sinangag, 1 pares and 1 bottle of softdrink. *Full. The regular customers even advised us to come back next time to try the matang-baka. *Gulp.

Oh It’s Going to Be a Yummy! Christmas: 2011 Noel Discovery Bazaar Coming Up.

I attended this afternoon the briefing for this year’s Noel Bazaar at the PICC Hall and got overwhelmed by the number of exhibitors who are participating – us, Frabelle Foods, included.

Being a first-timer, I can’t help not to become excited for our Brand and our product, especially our newly-launched Frabelle Yummy! Hotdog because finally, more and more people will once again experience the authentic way of preparing food that only Frabelle Foods dare to bring back – naturally smoked,locked-in freshness and of course better bites.

So, in the 11th year Cut Unlimited, Inc. is giving us Noel Discovery Bazaar, this surely is not just going to be their biggest with 2 great venues (World Trade Center and PICC Forum Tent) and 23 shopping days … this will also be the yummiest!

Mushy Sunday: I Wish, I Wish, I Wish

I saw a wishing ‘pond’ at a bar I and some friends went to in Timog area the other night and fell so in love with their ‘sign’:

‘Each coin has a tale to tell, a wish hidden in every toss. A little light of hope in every ripple that it makes, A chance that tomorrow will be another day. What’s your wish today?’

So I tossed a one peso coin on that pond and wished for *****. Haha. I wished for ** and I wished for true happiness and love. And then a light of hope sparked.

The First Month that Was

October 3, I was still doubting whether or not my first day will really start. It has been postponed three times. But when I finally saw the sign on the Sales Room that says ‘Welcome New Frabelle Foods Sales Force’ and saw it jampacked with people with some that have that ‘neophyte’ look, wow, I know it’s game on and this is really is it.

I’ve been praying so hard for this and looking back at my ‘notes’, this is a blessing and an answered prayed, indeed.

Day 1:

Thank you so much, Lord, for this wonderful start. I know you really put me here and I’m accepting this with all my heart. Thank you sincerely, Lord, for blessing me with this one. Thank you for all the people who have been a huge part of this bigger plan of Yours. Use me, dear Lord, so I, too, may serve Your purpose. Amen.

Day 2:

I feel so blessed every single second of every day. Thank you so much, Lord. Help me to remain humble at all times. Let me not forget that it is Your heart I am carrying in my life and that Your love is the purpose of my existence.

Let me not forget, Lord, that my deeds reflect on You and on my parents and that Your kindness and peace should always be the deeds I am extending to others. I love you so much, Lord. Thank you for loving me this much.

Day 3:

Time moved sooo slooooowly today and I just contented myself sipping coffee one cup after another. For the last two days, Grace had been my companion. Just like Lola and Crea, she walks me to the spot where I can ride my way home. And now Lance and then Joan. Cheers to Day 3’s friendliness.

Day 4:

I think I crossed some line today. I can’t help but be grateful for the trainings and opportunities my former company and bosses have given me. I appreciate and miss them more. I miss our sales people. I miss my friends. But I have to accept that this is my reality now. And I have to adjust. Good thing I already know the power of silence and just keep my negative thoughts with me.

Forgive me, Lord, and thank you for overpowering my bad thoughts with Your wisdom, kindness and love.

Day 5:

The training was very humbling. At first I was comparing it to the trainings we had at my previous company. I even texted one of the bosses to let him know how much I appreciate the trainings and the modules I have been a part of.

I am happy to inform him that I am already beginning my success story in my company now and he is very generous enough to say kind words and extend help in case I need one. I am more than inspired.

As we go along the day, I realized I may know advance sales trainings but right now, we are all beginners and that’s where I need to begin – from the start. So even if I’m sure I already know the things being discussed, I changed my mindset. I emptied those knowledge and open my mind to what’s being discussed. And then I focused and got inspired even more.

I realized, I really need to let go of the past for me to have a good grip of the present. I learned. And I should always remember that only they gave me this chance, this rare opportunity to start anew and to change my path so I owe this to them big time and I should really really appreciate and put more value to the things they are imparting on me as a sales person and as a person.

Be humble and learn. I only have to remember that lowest point in my life for me to never ever have a chance to lift these feet on the ground.

Day 6:

I’ve been seeing signs that this is really the company for me: fieldwork (my passion) and Starbucks Venti Caramel Macchiato with extra Caramel Drizzle (my fave) plus Vitamin C from the bosses given to us with love. What could get better than this?

Day 7:

The training was so inspiring. The more I embrace it, the more reasons I find why this is the company I really see myself growing old with. The company and the people honor God, they value family, they respect each and every one, they understand quality time with the loved ones and most of all, they want us all to WORK with a HEART.

November 3. What I learned in that first week, I applied and I am still applying in my day-to-day interactions. My first month was a total blast! My love for God is growing every single day, my family is happy because of the blessings that came pouring nonstop, I have good relationship with my colleagues, I still have time to do the things I love and not cut the connections and communications with people who I now treat not as mere friends but as my dearly precious ones.

Above all these, I love what I’m doing because I work with my heart. Cheers to more blissful and blessed months! Love, Rikki
